Our agricultural client seeks an experienced and versatile Irrigation and Drainage Engineer with extensive experience in planning, designing, and installing surface irrigation systems. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of hydraulic principles, soil-water interactions, and crop requirements, enabling them to develop efficient irrigation strategies tailored to diverse agricultural settings.

Qualifications	Bachelor’s degree in Land and Water Resources Management, Honours degree in agriculture engineering with specializations in irrigation OR any other relevant qualification equivalent.

Ability To	Plan the training of irrigation and drainage systems (operation and maintenance) for both department’s technical team and field Section Managers and their Irrigators.

Requirements

Planning and coordinating the designing of new surface Irrigation systems for the Estate which includes the layflat surfaces and irrigation systems for small scale farmers.
Planning and coordinating the installation of surface Irrigation systems for the Chisumbanje estate which includes the layflat surface and GreenFuel irrigation and small-scale systems.
Planning and coordinating the repair, maintenance and modifications of existing surface Irrigation systems for the Estate which includes the layflat surface and GreenFuel irrigation systems for small scale farmers.
Designing, planning, coordination and evaluation of the construction of drip bulk water supply systems (i.e. conveyances, dams, weirs and sumps) for drip irrigation blocks.
Planning and coordination of drip irrigation system components installations in conjunction with Netafim.
Monitoring the management of drip irrigation operation and maintenance of existing drip irrigation blocks.
Planning, designing and evaluating new drainage systems for Chisumbanje estate.
Planning the repair and maintenance of the existing drainage systems at Chisumbanje Estate.
Advising and coordinating designs of bulk water supply structures and drainage systems for Middle Sabi estates when requested.
Advising and coordination of construction of water supply systems for community irrigation and domestic water supply as requested by Community Relations department.
Overseeing the production of water budgets for the Chisumbanje and Middle Sabi Estates done by the Water Reticulation Manager together with the Irrigation Engineer stationed in Middle Sabi.
Coordinating with ZINWA on the Estates water requirements
Monitors the implementation of irrigation scheduling of all fields within Chisumbanje Estate done by the Irrigation Scheduling Engineer using irrigation scheduling techniques which includes Irrigweb, soil moisture auguring and soil moisture monitoring using probes.
Producing and presenting budgets and procurement of goods to the General Manager Agric Operations needed for both the Irrigation and drainage systems constructions which includes new developments and modifications of existing systems.
